About LocalAI Check

What this site is, who it is for, and what it is not.

What LocalAI Check does

LocalAI Check is a small, independent tool site. Its job is to answer one question clearly: based on the requirements announced in October 2026, can your Mac run Perplexity Computer's local-first mode?

The rule we check is the one from the announcement: an Apple Silicon Mac with at least 36GB of unified memory. We explain the surrounding questions - chip families, memory tiers, buying choices - in plain English, and we do not publish invented benchmarks or performance figures.

Independence and trademarks

LocalAI Check is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Perplexity. "Perplexity" and "Perplexity Computer" are trademarks of their respective owner and are used here only to identify the product our checker is about (nominative use).

How the site earns money

Some outbound links to retailers may be affiliate links (marked as placeholders until wired up). If you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That never changes a checker verdict: the verdict is a chip-and-memory calculation, nothing else.
